Steven and his artist wife Amy Córdova Boone moved to Oaxaca, Mexico in 2019. They produce artwork from their studio: called Dos Venados
Steven is an award winning author, and his writing has appeared in various publications. His blog, MY FAIRY TALE LIFE, is about his life, travels, observations, musings, and philosophy, including photographs. It is nearing 500 posts spanning seven years.

A HEART TRACED IN SAND was written over the course of three years and published after the death of Steven's oldest daughter Naomi, who died at the age of nineteen. The book won two awards and is a deeply moving tribute to the courage and steadfastness of his daughter, as well as the love they shared.
Steven is an accomplished photographer. He makes his own prints, using a state-of-the-art wide format printer that can print on canvas as well as paper. His photos have been used on book covers in France and Spain.
